Volmark Unveils New Chrysanthemum ‘Bouncer’… Targeting Small Pot and Mixed Pot Markets

1 hour ago 2
The Dutch company Volmary recently unveiled a new chrysanthemum variety called ‘Bouncer.’ With its compact plant form, branching ability, and vivid reddish-purple flower color, its potential for commercialization in small pots and mixed pots is drawing attention.

Volmary, a Dutch floriculture breeding company, announced that it recently unveiled a new chrysanthemum variety called ‘Bouncer.’ This variety is characterized by its relatively compact plant form and excellent branching ability, even among potted chrysanthemums, and was introduced as a suitable material for small pots and mixed planting products.

According to Volmary, ‘Bouncer’ is a variety featuring a vivid reddish-purple flower color and uniform blooming habits. The company explained that it is highly versatile for mixed concepts where it is combined with other varieties in the same pot, and is advantageous for ensuring product uniformity at the time of sale. Amidst the recent sustained demand for small potted plants and ready-to-sell finished products in the European floriculture market, this is interpreted as a variety proposal that simultaneously considers cultivation efficiency and display effectiveness. Chrysanthemums are a crop with steady demand in Korea for potted plants, gifts, autumn season products, and home gardening. In particular, in the distribution sector, short cultivation turnover, uniform shipment quality, and shelf display capabilities are considered key factors in variety selection. In this regard, compact potted chrysanthemums like ‘Bouncer’ are expected to have common ground with domestic product categories for small pots, mixed pots, and autumn color schemes. This unveiling is also significant in that it demonstrates the continued development of chrysanthemum varieties oriented toward potted plants and retail, rather than focusing on large cut flowers. Amid the trend of flower consumption diversifying from seasonal events to lifestyle-oriented products, attention is focused on whether the trend of breeding companies successively proposing varieties that prioritize cultivation convenience and product quality will continue.
