Seeds are usually sown in warm spring or early summer, with a suitable germination temperature of approximately 25–30°C. It can also be propagated by offsets or division.

A key point to note during cultivation is the use of well-draining soil. Use soil specifically designed for succulents or mix sand into general soil to improve drainage. Watering should be reduced to once a week during the summer and to once a month or less during the winter dormancy period. Grow it in a location with ample sunlight; when growing it indoors, a south-facing window is ideal. Adequate ventilation is also essential.
