Haworthia Venosa subsp. Letusa
Haworthia venosa
subsp.
Retusa
Haworthia venosa subsp. Retusa is a succulent characterized by a relatively slow growth rate and thick, triangular-shaped leaves. It thrives best in partial shade, and exposure to excessive sunlight can cause the leaves to dehydrate. While this plant can tolerate high temperatures, it is somewhat sensitive to cold. Propagation is primarily done via offsets or leaf cuttings. Offsets can fall naturally from the mother plant or be separated manually, while leaf cuttings are taken by cutting off a healthy leaf and inserting it into the soil to encourage rooting. For cultivation, it is important to use well-draining soil and to water only after the soil has completely dried. Excessive watering can lead to root rot, so care must be taken, and watering frequency should be reduced during the winter. Indirect light, rather than direct sunlight, is suitable. For garden use, it is excellent for decorating rock gardens or small flowerbeds. Succulents are generally easy to maintain, making them recommended for beginner gardeners. Major pests include scale insects and mites. To control them, regular inspections of the plants are necessary, along with the use of appropriate insecticides when pests occur. Pests can be physically removed, or scale insects can be wiped away with an alcohol-soaked cotton swab. Preventively, it is important to ensure good air circulation and avoid excessive moisture.
