Growth Characteristics
- Environment: Cymbidium thrives in partial shade and requires some sunlight during the winter. It is best to grow it in a pot in a well-ventilated area.
- Temperature: Cymbidium prefers a cool environment, so care must be taken to prevent excessively high temperatures during the summer. A temperature of around 5–10°C is suitable during the winter.
- Soil: Well-draining soil is required, and a slightly acidic pH is appropriate. Generally, a potting mix consisting of soil, orchid potting mix, and peat moss is used.

Propagation Methods
- Seed Propagation: In nature, orchid seeds are dispersed by the wind, but propagation by seed is generally difficult.
- Division: This is the most common method of propagation; it is recommended to divide the clump with the roots still attached and plant it in spring or autumn.

Cultivation Methods
 - Planting: The optimal time for planting is spring or autumn. When planting in a pot, first lay down a layer of orchid pebbles or gravel to create a drainage layer, then add potting soil and plant.
 - Watering: Water after the surface soil has dried, but be careful not to overwater. It is best to water early in the morning during the summer.
 - Fertilization: During the growing season, use liquid fertilizer or fertilizer specifically designed for orchids; it is best to avoid fertilizing during the winter.

Utilization in the Garden
Since Cymbidium orchids have high ornamental value in themselves, they can be used as accent plants in shaded areas of the garden in addition to being grown in pots. The flowering season is mainly in spring, so placement that considers harmony with surrounding plants is important.

- Black Spot: This can occur due to overwatering; ensure good ventilation and remove diseased leaves.
- Pests: Aphids and scale insects may occur; use appropriate insecticides if necessary, or use soapy water for eco-friendly control. - Mold: Since this occurs due to insufficient ventilation, you must tidy up the surrounding environment and ensure good ventilation.
